CSTM has carried a custom development of a dedicated optical tester for measuring the color of gemstones
The system includes:
A. A special lighting setup of diffused white light
B. A Color camera
C. An SBC computer
D. A special bench for positioning the stone
E. Mechanics which allow placement and removal of the stone
The main challenge in the project was to implement a photographic system that is invariant to the size of the stone and its orientation.
