The picture shows an optical system we have miniaturized for one of our customers. The project included: design and realization of the optics and mechano-optics of an athermalized optical system, as well as assembly fixtures and active alignment jigs – that enable to calibrate and assemble it. The project relied heavily on customization, since due to the miniaturization and athermalization requests, no off-the-shelf components could be used.

We had to build a jig that independently simulates the optical output of a 1st assembly (the above mentioned athermalized system), enabling to actively align a 2nd conjugate assembly.

Additional jigs were designed and manufactured in order to calibrate the various sub-assemblies of the athermalized system, for example the picture of the jig ___ allows to actively align an optical fiber in front of collimation optics in 4 DoFs to achieve a Gausian beam that is symmetrically aligned about a given axis.

The picture  shows a jig that was realized in order to check the centricity of an assembled collimator with reference to its mechanical axis.
